Position Summary

Under indirect supervision and working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing high quality professional nutrition care to Medical/Surgical/ICU (non hemodialysis) assigned patients, consistent with the philosophy of Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.

The Clinical Dietitian is a vital member of the inter-professional team that assists to maximize nutrition intake, in a variety of medical/surgical adult inpatients to assist with optimizing nutrition with a goal to shorten the patient’s length of hospital stay.

Qualifications

Education:
• Completion of a Bachelors Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field and a graduate of an Accredited Dietetic Internship program required.
• Current member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario required.
• Member of the Dietitians of Canada considered and asset.

Experience:
• Minimum of one (1) year experience working in acute care setting required.
• Experience with electronic medical record system an asset.

Competencies:
• Demonstrate knowledge of chronic disease prevention & management.
• Demonstrate computer literacy with some advanced computer skills.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrate ability to organize, prioritize and multi task efficiently.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a highly professional manner.
• Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Demonstrates commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self Directed Learning Opportunities.
