Position Summary

The Registered Nurse on Obstetrics is responsible for providing direct patient care in accordance with the mission, vision, goals, objectives and policies of the hospital and the Patient Services Department. We are dedicated to a family centered approach to care and the education of families as they transition to a new and exciting stage of their lives. Nurses in Obstetrics work in Obstetrical Triage, Ante/Post Partum care, Operating Room and Labour and Delivery.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) required.
• Current CPR Certification required.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certificate required.
• Fetal Monitoring Certificate and/or advanced knowledge and experience required.
• Newborn Assessment required.
• Current experience in high risk obstetrics – antepartum/labour assessments required
• Breast Feeding certification an asset.
• Course in high risk obstetrics/perinatal certification preferred.
• Previous Labour and Delivery or SCN/NICU experience preferred.
• Experience with scrub and circulate role and recovery of surgical patients required.
• Experience with Cerner applications and surginet required.
• Experience/Knowledge/Commitment to support NICU/Paeds an asset.
• Demonstrated competence in department specific Advanced Practice Skills within a trial or probationary period.
• Demonstrated ability to function efficiently and effectively as a team member.
• Excellent attendance and performance records and evidence of interest in continuous professional growth.
• The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital.
• Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communications skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
