We are seeking new graduates and/or established family physicians to provide office-based comprehensive primary care throughout the communities of Orillia, Severn, Oro-Medonte, Rama First Nation and Ramara. This is an excellent opportunity to practice and care for a diverse patient population. Wide age range of patients, provides an opportunity for broad based primary care PLUS options for obstetrics, palliative care and hospital work (including ER, hospitalist, and OR assisting). High needs and older patients waiting for new physicians in the community.

On Fridays when everyone is heading North to their cottages, you’re already here. Nestled on the shores of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe, Orillia is located only 90 minutes north of Toronto.

Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) is located in the City of Orillia providing a comprehensive range of programs and services including medical, surgical and emergency care, as well as outpatient services. Through OSMH’s regional programs we are able to offer kidney care, orthopedic care, sexual assault and domestic violence treatment, adult mental health care, seniors care, as well as pediatric and neonatal intensive care to patients throughout North Simcoe Muskoka and beyond.

Remuneration
Physician income will be based on blended capitation for those looking to join FHO. Billings to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and other reciprocal insurers. Earning potential will be dependent on roster size.

Qualifications
We have dedicated and seasoned physicians to support new and recent graduates from Canada, UK, USA, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, South Africa, Singapore and Hong Kong.
There are opportunities for supervision for International Medical Graduate (IMG)/ International Trained Family Physician (ITFPs).
Applicant must be a licensed physician (or eligible for licensing) in the Province of Ontario. Applicant must be eligible for appointment to the credentialed staff at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital if privileges are being requested.

Community Site Visit
The Community Physician Recruiter will do a personal needs assessment prior to a site visit so we can tailor each visit based on you and your family’s needs. During your visit, we will facilitate introductions to potential colleagues and practice office locations. Should you have an interest to participate in Hospital coverage at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, we will also provide a hospital tour.

Incentives
• The Ontario Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative offers financial incentives to each eligible physician who establishes a full-time practice in an eligible community.
o Severn- $81,200
o Ramara - $80,800
• Should you have any Canadian student loans, you may be eligible for up to $60,000
• Pregnancy and Parental Leave Benefit Policy (PPLBP) benefit to a maximum of $1300/week.

Responsibilities
• Ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
• Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
• Continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community
• Provide care and coordination of community-based care
• Build to capacity within the first two years (new family physicians)
• Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Ontario Ministry of Health
• Work toward same day or next day access for the practice population
• Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needs
• Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required
• Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
• Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR- Telus) and record all relevant patient details which is accessible to all collaborating team members
