Position Summary

One full-time community based OB/GYN position (1 FTE) providing a high quality efficient service with access to elective and emergency operating room and outpatient clinic time at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital as resources allow. There is a potential for access to regional resources as part of a regional service.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

On-Call:
1 in 6 call
• Provision of on-call shared with OB/GYN group
• Participation in any future regional OB/GYN on-call service

In-Patient:
• Consultations for OSMH credentialed staff and regional partners
• MRP care for inpatients including admission, peri-operative management and discharge
• Participation and cooperation as a contributing team member

Out-Patient:
• Provision of out-patient consultations
• Provision of ambulatory colposcopy available, as resources allow

Administrative and Quality:
• Participation in strategic planning and program development of OB/GYN services.
• Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to obstetrical and surgical care.
• Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws.
• Active participation in working towards the OSMH length of stay (LOS) target benchmark at the 25th percentile of Ontario Hospitals.
• Efficient use of resources.

REMUNERATION:
• Fee for Service
• HOCC for on-call
APP- Alternate Payment Plan submission complete and anticipated approval for 2024

Qualifications

Education:
• College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position.
• Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).

Experience:
• Previous OB/GYN experience preferred.
• Special interest or sub-specialty training in advanced laparoscopy, urogynecology and/or community infertility (cycle monitoring, OI, COH and IUI) is considered an asset.

• Function effectively as a consultant, integrating all of the CanMEDS roles to provide
optimal, ethical and patient-centred medical care,
• Establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to your practice,
• Perform complete and appropriate assessments of patients,
• Use preventive and therapeutic interventions effectively,
• Demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills, both diagnostic and
therapeutic,
• Seek appropriate consultation from other health professionals, recognizing the limits of their expertise.
